Someone had messaged me and asked me about the brothers and sisters of our head of the table Tom Jenkins. Here's what I know so far, and let's start with Tom's known sisters. Children of Garrison Jenkins and the former Delia Newman.
- Catherine Jenkins Manning - DNA matches confirm, paper-trail shows her father Garrison Jenkins enrolling her in school in Pike County
- Maggie Jenkins (Garner) Sartin- DNA matches confirm a relationship. All we have is oral history - possibly Maggie's son naming Garrison as his mother's father.
- Emaline Jenkins Haynes - DNA matches confirm and it took me a minute to make the connection. The one match I found had Burns on their tree and was more focused on that until looking at our mutual matches. Also was seen in the 1900 US Census with her parents Garrison and Delia in addition to her brothers.

Here are his known brothers
- George Jenkins - primarily through census records and social security. Possibly the oldest brother.
- Will Jenkins - DNA matches confirm. His family lived in Shelby, Mississippi and made the journey to the Mississippi Delta with Tom & Monroe. He was in the legal documents for his brother Tom's land in Mound Bayou, Mississippi as he briefly owned an interest in the land.
- Monroe Jenkins - other than possibly being in Census records with Garrison & Delia Jenkins in 1900 (known as Marvin) in addition to his brothers George, Will, Tom, Levi, JayGou and Emaline there isn't much documentation on him. Oral history has him leaving Pike County, Mississippi with Will and Tom for the Mississippi Delta
- Levi Jenkins- DNA Matches confirm and could be the namesake for my grandfather Levi Jenkins - Tom's oldest son. To see that there was another Levi Jenkins (beyond my father & grandfather) was a revelation.
- Jay Gould (JayGou) Jenkins - DNA Matches confirm, however, finding him in the papertrail living with his family in Pike County, MISS in 1900 led me to find my great-grandfather - and our head of the table - Tom's parents. And thankfully we could close the loop on why we call him Uncle JayGou.

I know it has already been shared on here already but here is a pic of Uncles Levi (right)and JayGou (left) as boys with their mother Delia. What a find...
I wanted to add this census enumeration from 1900 in Pike County, Mississippi. This enabled me to find the family that Tom Jenkins left behind for Mound Bayou. JayGou proved to be a great clue and allowed me to realize why he was often referred to as Uncle JayGou. And before procuring Tom's death certificates I had an idea who his parents were.

If I hadn't already I wanted to point out that Garrison and Delia Jenkins are buring at Spring Beulah Church in Ruth, Mississippi. A number of Jenkins family in Pike County are buried down there including a few of Tom's brothers and sisters. Here's a history of the church for your perusal provided by the granddaughter of Uncle JayGou.
And the grave of Garrison and Delia Jenkins on the grounds of Spring Beulah.

The next post I would like to do is regarding the land near Mound Bayou that Tom (our head of the table) had bought early in the 20th Century. I wanted to explore further the legal documents regarding the sale of that land. Perhaps you might have an idea of how I should refer to that land Tom's "claim", Tom's "table" or just Tom Jenkins Reality?
I also wanted to get into the burial ground that near Tom's land we know as Spring Hill Church which in the handful times I've been there has been very overgrown. An uncle of mind said we need to do something about that. However, let's bear in mind Tom along with his wife the former Georgia Johnson are buried there. In addition is daughter and my great-aunt Delia Jenkins and my father's (
Levi Jenkins Jr) mother the former Evelyn Liggins.
As always, if anyone has any addition information or any other thoughts you're always free to e-mail me.
Believe it or not our Memphis Reunion is live in three months. How many of you are going?
